Mountain Ranges

Environment
      The mountain Ranges are about 1,000-12,000 ft high which consists of different climate throughout the mountains. There is a lot of rain on the mountain ranges. Riverbeds form on the sides of some mountains.

Adaptation
      Many people live on the mountains. They built terraces on the mountains to farm and collect food. They also made dams and irrigation systems for water.

Coastal Plains

Environment
     Coastal Plains are 5-40 miles inland and the air is damp and moist. There are many rain falls in the coastal plains. There are many river beds and natural harbors.

Adaptations
       Coastal plains are suitable for farming. people who lived in the area built irrigation systems and traders traded crops from the Coastal plains. When the Marib Dam was still standing, it used to carry the water to this area.

Oases

Environment

      Many oases occur where there has been water. Oases occur where water has been trapped underground. Oases form near grass and shrub sprouts and has a very large area in size.

Adaptations

This is an Oases with lots of plants surrounding it.

This is an Oases where people have lived near it for water use.

      Because of Oases, Nomads became sedentary. Many used a lot of crops and plants for houses from the Oases. A lot of towns and buildings began to form because the Oases gave a lot of water for farmers. 

Deserts

Environment:

This is a picture of a desert with many sand dunes.

This is a picture of a desert with many mountains.

     The deserts consist of many plateaus, sand dunes, and have many windstorms and rainstorms. Rainfall usually gives 3-4 inches of rain to the deserts and some windstorms transforms the land into landscapes and sand dunes.

Adaptations
     Some people lived in the deserts and also in towns. But some people used to travel a lot. Those people were called nomads. They raised sheep, goats and camels. Camels were  the main source of transportation. Nomads wear gowns to protect wind, dust, heat and flies from the deserts.

India Presentation Summary

             From all of India's knowledge and skills, they used their natural resources to provide them to build amazing buildings such as the Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar and the Anicut Dam on top many geographic features, like the Himalayan Mountains, plains and deserts, all across India.
